FEPI Working Group on Ethical Code Patient safety and public protection in an enlarged European Internal Market cannot be achieved without common understanding of the values and codes of conduct that govern the nursing profession. The FEPI Working Group on Ethical Codes is currently working on the principles and values that would lead to a European Code of Ethics and Conduct for Nursing. Such principles are crucial for the future of the profession and would bring substantial added value to the work being carried out on this matter at EU level. FEPI collaborates closely with CEPLIS-the European Council of the Liberal Professions, which is the leading organisation in the reflection on Common Values for the Liberal Professions in Europe. Chair: Dr. Máximo González Jurado – CGE President Meeting dates:
FEPI Working Group on Education Training & Competences The FEPI Working Group on Nursing Education Training & Competences has been set up following participant recommendations made during FEPI 2 nd Annual Conference in Rome held in May 2006. It follows the work of the former Advisory Committee at the Nursing Education level. The group seeks to provide guidance and exchange of good practice among nursing regulators and competent authorities in the field of nursing education, training and competences. The work of the group focuses on the update and upgrading of nursing education in Europe. More specifically, it deals with the implementation of the EC Directive on Recognition of Professional Qualifications, the Bologna process and the forthcoming EC ILP (Integrated Lifelong Learning Programme). The WG members have been liaising with educators and European networks especially with regard to nursing competencies at European level. Chair: Dr. Anne-Marie Ryan – ANA Meeting dates: 16 April 2007 - Brussels
FEPI Working Group on Regulation The FEPI Regulation Working Group will support established regulatory boards and newly set up regulatory authorities to discuss and make positions on issues regarding nursing regulation at European level. The main areas of concern include registration (how to set the register, update it and share information from one country to another), fitness to practise (disciplinary procedures) and promoting excellence in nursing professional practice. The Working Group will strive to develop a closer understanding of the regulatory frameworks governing nurses across the EU and to support other European countries in developing nursing regulation. It will also continue to develop a comprehensive database of European nursing regulators and competent authorities, which will be disseminated to regulators across Europe and worldwide. Chair: Mrs. Maria Brezinska - MCNM Meeting dates: 17 April 2007 - Brussels
